Habita

An expenses fintech for buildings and gated communities. Automatic collections, bank reconciliation and owner communication.

The problem

Building administrators spend hours every week chasing payments and matching them against bank statements by hand. Owners, meanwhile, have no idea what they're paying for.

How it works

Habita issues the expense, collects it automatically or by payment link, and reconciles against bank movements with no manual step.

The administrator panel shows in real time who paid, who owes, and the building's financial position. The owner portal lets each one see their payment history, download receipts and settle debt in instalments.

How it helps day to day

If you administer buildings, Habita removes the weekly hours of chasing payments and reconciling. The system tracks arrears automatically and generates the reports you need for assemblies.

For owners, transparency changes the relationship with the building: they see exactly what they're paying for and can resolve anything from the portal without calling the administrator.

Stack and technical decisions

Next.js for the combination of server-side rendering for dashboards and integrated API routes. TypeScript from day one to keep consistency in a financial domain where a type mistake is a money mistake. Stripe for collections and AWS RDS for the ledger.
